Our nursery opens at 8.00am and offers a range of flexible sessions designed to support busy families.
Registration begins at 8.30am, with options to attend a morning session, until 12.30pm, a full day, until 3.00pm, or an extended day, until 6.00pm. To provide additional support for parents, our holiday provision runs for the majority of school holidays, offering care from 8.00am to 5.00pm each day.
Here, one of our children describes their day:
8.00am – 8.30am: My nursery day begins
When I come through the door, my teacher smiles and says "Good morning!" I hang up my coat and bag on my peg. I can see some of my friends already playing. There are so many fun things to choose.
8.30am – 8.45am: Welcome time
We all sit together on the carpet. My teacher shows us pictures of what we'll be doing today. I can see the music notes, which means we're going to the music school!
8.45am – 9.00am: Little Wandle phonics
It's time to learn how to say our sounds! I listen carefully and say the sound out loud. We play games with the sound. I'm getting really good at hearing the sounds in words now.
9.00am – 9.30am: Music lesson in the Music School
Today we are going to the music school! I love the big room with all the instruments. We sing songs and play the shakers - shake, shake, shake!
9.30am – 11.00am: Child choice with adult-guided activities
Now I can choose what I want to do! Sometimes I play outside on the bikes or dig in the sand. Sometimes I stay inside and do puzzles or make a train track. My teacher helps me build a really tall tower and we make patterns with the paint. I learn so much when I'm playing!
We sit together and do maths. Today we're sorting shapes. I find all the circles and put them in a group. One, two, three, four, five circles! I can count quite high now. We sing number songs too, that's my favourite bit!
11.30am – 11.45am: Story and song time
Story time is so cosy! We all sit close together while our teacher reads. I love looking at the pictures and guessing what might happen next. We sing songs while we wash our hands for lunch. The bubbles smell nice and my hands feel clean!
11.45am – 12.30pm: Lunchtime
My tummy is rumbling! I sit with my friends at the table. Today we're having my favourite, it’s a roast dinner. I try to use my knife and fork carefully. We chat about what we've been doing and I tell my friend about the tower I built earlier.
12.30pm – 1.00pm: Outside playtime
Time to play outside! I run around with my friends. We might play chase, or go on the climbing frame, or look for minibeasts in the garden. The fresh air feels nice. Playing outside is the best!
1.00pm – 1.15pm: Corefulness / Me Moment
After all that running, it's time to be calm and quiet. We do our breathing exercises and gentle stretches. I lie down on my mat and relax my whole body. Sometimes my teacher plays soft music. I feel peaceful and ready for the afternoon.
1.15pm – 2.30pm: Afternoon activities
Every day we do something different in the afternoon! Today is ballet, I love twirling and dancing. I can’t wait until tomorrow afternoon when we do cookery, I get to measure, mix and taste yummy things.
2.30pm – 3.00pm: Story and home time
We gather on the carpet one last time. Our teacher reads us a story and we talk about our day. What was my favourite bit? I think about all the fun things I did with my friends.
3.00pm: Extended day begins
Some of my friends go home now, but I'm staying for an extended day. The Reception children come and join us and some of them are my friends too! We have more time to play together, do crafts and have a snack. There's always something fun to do until home time.
